New RPG Project Underway

You may remember back in later summer of 2005 that I started a project tentatively called the NESRPG that was basically a silly romp through a Kingdom Hearts/Captain N influenced role playing game using a Final Fantasy III (FF6) style engine to chronicle the story of a hero donning familiar NES era gear to battle the dastardly plots of an alliance of evil. A hard drive crash and a lot of outside events prevented its continuation, but there's a lot of good news.

It's back and better than ever. Dumping the goofy storyline and the NES era graphics, it's going to be based more on gameplay and story to drive it's momentum than jokes and nostalgia. And though the tone is more serious, don't expect it to be overboard at all. Rated M, this isn't. Read below for more info!

Adding Fun

This is a crossover story, and as such, don't expect a lot of canon here. In fact, while much will stay familiar, I'm giving everything and everyone a bit of a fresh coat of paint to fit into this crazy world they now share. No more multiple worlds connected by warp zones. The abridged storyline this time is a loose organization of monster slayers and treasure hunters battles to keep the world safe from danger until a mysterious force begins capturing souls. A new nameless stranger arrives to join the Hunter ranks, holding the power to release these captive souls. During his globe-trotting adventure, he will meet 11 other heroes who will join him in his quest to stop the madness.
Among those 11 are!--

Mario Can't have the ultimate crossover without the ultimate mascot.

Rock The Blue Bomber is the youngest of the group but worth his weight in gold.

Snake The brooding ladies' man brings his chest of military toys with him.

Sonic Angsty teenage Sonic is still as impatient and ready to kick tail as ever.

Annet El Viento's leading lady may not be famous, but necessary for the story.

Jim A powerhouse of a character but also the wonderful comedic relief.

Jill Sporting a new look and new gimmicks, Jill is a great asset to the team.

Simon The brooding vampire slayer is going to be hunting Dracula once more.

The art needs work and more customization but it's moving along well at this point. The other three heroes shouldn't be any surprise to anyone either. The galaxy's greatest female bounty hunter, the most famous elf boy of all time, and one badass ninja. All four other heroes will be represented on here soon.
